 Show Number Two

Charlie Cooley Studio and Gallery is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition titled “Show Number Two”. Introducing the work of glassblower Tom Musolino to the Lakeland area, along with artworks by Tate Krupa and Charlie Cooley. An opening reception will be held Saturday August 6, 2011 from 7-9pm.

The works of art will be on view from August 6 – October 8, 2011. The exhibition will also include previously featured works by Krupa and Cooley on display in the gallery lounge.

Thomas Musolino is part of the contemporary glass art movement.  For the last six years, Thomas has traveled the country making and exhibiting artwork and also learning cutting-edge glass techniques from master artisans from around the world. He received his BFA in Glass and Sculpture from Jacksonville University. Thomas also studied at Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, and Pittsburgh Glass Center. After graduating he moved to Seattle, WA to work with world-famous glass artist Dale Chihuly for eighteen months. Thomas then moved to New Orleans, LA for a ten-month artist residency at New Orleans GlassWorks. His current works vary from abstract shapes, birds, stylized flowers, and kinetic sculptures.

Tate Krupa has her own design company, Sentria Graphic Design, and has been a freelance graphic designer for the last six years. She received her BA in Art with a specialization in Printmaking from the University of Cental Florida. Tate uses Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign to create her sharp, modern, and fun graphic designs for a plethora of businesses and several published children’s books and book covers. For her artwork she uses an eclectic mix of mediums, such as; giclee, ink, linocut, screen-printing, and watercolor. Tate has shown at Arts on the Park, Polk State College, and is a represented artist here at Charlie Cooley Studio and Gallery. She lives and works in Winter Haven, Florida.

Charlie Cooley operates Charlie Cooley Studio and Gallery in the Dixieland Historic District of Lakeland.  He studied Computer Animation at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and Political Science at the University of Maryland University College. Bored by animation he turned to painting eight years ago. Charlie lived in Japan and Germany for several years and those experiences continue to influence his work. He mainly uses Acrylic paint on a variety of surfaces, such as; cardboard, wood, roof tiles, bowling pins, and canvas.
